Thefilm,whichclaimstobeatruestory,setsouttodetailtheexistenceofthe"FoukeMonster",abigfoot-likecreaturethathasreportedlybeenseenbyresidentsofasmallArkansascommunitysincethe1950s.Itisdescribedashavingafoulodor,completelycoveredinreddish-brownhairandhaving3toesandalsoknownbyleavingtracksfoundinbeanfields.SeverallocalsfromthesmalltownofFouke,Arkansasrecalltheirstories,oftenappearingasthemselves,claimingthatthecreaturehaskilledseverallargehogsaswellasotheranimals.Inonescene,akittenisshownashavingbeen"scaredtodeath"bythecreature.Thenarratorinformsusthatwhilepeoplehaveshotatthecreatureinthepast,ithasalwaysmanagedtoescape.Inanotherscene,huntersattempttopursuethecreaturewithdogs,butthedogsrefusetogivechase.Apoliceconstablestatesthatwhiledrivinghomeonenight,thecreaturesuddenlyranacrosstheroadinfrontofhim.Inalatersequence,culledfromtheactualnewspaperaccountsinspiringthefilm,thecreatureisshownmenacingafamilyinaremotecountryhouse.Afterbeingfiredupon,thecreatureattacks,sendingonefamilymembertothehospital.
